StyleTread competition issues

We sent a reminder note today to our new members about the StyleTread competition. We're having some technical difficulties with the link, so have swapped it to our current Ozsale campaign. Apologies for any inconvenience.

Please note that we recently sent a note out to our members that this competition ended 17/10/11.

Due to the popularity of this campaign, it has been relaunched as entirely new competition. The dates of the previous competition have not been extended.

 

Scam Alert - 'Postage Only' Trial Offers

We have had a report of a skincare product called "Revita-col' or similar offering a product trial for the price of postage only, cancel anytime.

Unfortunately cancel anytime isn't as it appears. If any such offers are emailed to you please pass them onto us, and do not take part, particularly if the brand owners are located overseas.

Often, these type of trials are put in place simply to get your credit card details. This is not the case for all offers, some are genuine trials, but put some thought in before taking part.

Competitions - The Book has sold out of stock from our online reserves.

There are still copies that can be found in book stores, or can be ordered at retailers, but these will also too be near completion.

Travel Indochina competition value

Although we like to list specific prize values, we have had to assume for this competition until we can clarify. As return airfares to Vietnam are included, we think that $1,000 per person would be about right.

 

Exclusive competition terms and conditions

Terms and conditions for our Facebook competition are below. Note that if you are not a Facebook member, you can still enter by placing a new comment on our blog section.

1. Information on how to enter and prizes form part of these conditions of entry.

2. Entry is open to residents of Australia only. Employees and their immediate families of the Promoter, participating outlets and agencies associated with this promotion are ineligible to enter.

3. To enter, entrants must either ‘like’ the CompetitionsGuide.com.au Facebook page (www.Facebook.com/competitionsguide.com.au) or make a comment on the Competitions Guide Blog page (http://www.competitionsguide.com.au/blogs.asp)

4. CompetitionsGuide membership is not required for the Facebook option, but is required for the Blog option. All current Facebook ‘Likers’ are automatically eligible to win. Only blog comments published after the date of commencement will be eligible.

5. Cancellation of CompetitionsGuide.com.au membership (for Blog entrants) or ‘unlike’ (for Facebook entrants) during the promotional period and up to and including the date of draw will void entry.

6. The Promoter reserves the right to verify the validity of entries. The Promoter reserves the right to disqualify any entrant for tampering with the entry process or for submitting an entry which is not in accordance with these terms and conditions. As personal details are not required for either entry types, entrants must make every effort to be contactable in the event that they are drawn a winner.

7. Promotion commences 21/6/11. Entries close 5pm EST on 31/7/11.

An announcement will also be made on the CompetitionsGuide Facebook page, regardless of the entry method of the winner.

11. The Promoter's decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into. Prize is not transferable or exchangeable and cannot be taken as cash.

12. Total prize pool value is $500 RRP

13. In the event of any prize/s being unclaimed by 7/12/11, further draw/s will take place to determine replacement winner/s. Winner/s in any replacement draw will be notified by email on 8/12/11 and their name/s published on www.CompetitionsGuide.com.au on the same day.

14. Prize values are the recommended retail values as provided by the suppliers and are correct at the time of printing. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for any variation in the value of the prize.

15. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for late, lost or misdirected entries.

16. Any costs associated with accessing the promotional website are the entrant’s responsibility and are dependent on the Internet service provider used. Any contact details entered incorrectly on the website shall be deemed invalid.

17. The Promoter is not responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer on-line systems, servers or providers, computer equipment, software, technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any web site, or any combination thereof, or any other technical failures, including but not limited to any injury or damage to participants’ or any other person's computer related to or resulting from participation in or down-loading any materials in this competition.

18. If for any reason this competition is not capable of running as planned (including but not limited to) infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorised intervention, fraud, technical failures or any other causes beyond the control of the Promoter which corrupt or affect the administration security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this competition, the Promoter reserves the right in its sole discretion to cancel, postpone, or amend this competition.

19. The Promoter shall not be liable for any loss or damage whatsoever which is suffered (including but not limited to indirect or consequential loss) or for any personal injury suffered or sustained, as a result of accepting and/or using the prize except for any liability which cannot be excluded by law.

20. The Promoter collects entrants’ personal information in order to conduct the promotion. If the information requested is not provided, the entrant may not participate in the promotion. Competitions Guide will not disclose personal details of any entrant except in the case that the entrant is a prize winner. Entrants’ personal information may be disclosed to relevant Governmental departments upon request. We've had some issues with a competition sent out to our members today, in case you're wondering why clicks are being diverted to another competition. We'll get the competition back up and running as soon as possible.

Repucom confirmations

We've been advised the current Repucom competiion has been having some issues sending confirmation emails. Any failed deliveries have now been resent, so please check your spam boxes to make sure.

It's a long survey, and we want to make sure our members have the chance to win.

Competitions Guide Mini-Break

Competitions Guide will be taking a short break returning on 4th January. The reason being there's too small an amount of new competitions starting over the Xmas New Year period (we like to keep "Big Tuesday" relatively big)

It's not too late to get signed copies for Xmas, but ...... to be sure you receive prior to Xmas please to be safe please get orders in by Monday 20th.

Why are you being diverted to another competition?

We've had some questions about why when you click on some competitions are you being taken to a different one.

The reason for this, is that some agencies that promote competitions will send you to another competition if you have already visited the one displayed.

Not ideal, and not much we can do about it, but at least now you know.

 

Florida competition SCAM warning

One of our members has reported that the Florida competition scam has surfaced again.

How it work is, you get a call telling you that you've won a trip to Florida, however you need to pay some money in taxes. You pay via your credit card, and no need to guess the rest.

Don't give your details under any circumstance.

 

Big Tuesday Update

Hi Members,

Those of you that are new to this site, quite often we get asked if we have a specific day in which we list new competitions. Although we add the odd one or two at any time during the week, Tuesday is our main update publication day of the week.

"Ticked first", which displays in order of ticked/not ticked/crossed

"Not ticked first", which displays in order of not ticked/ticked crossed

New features coming

Next week Competitions Guide will be adding some much asked for features. The most important will be the ability to sort between competitions ticked (only the ones you've decided you like) and those you haven't ticked (and also eliminating those you've crossed out)

We're also getting rid of the question mark .... a lot of members don't see a need for it, and in saying that, neither do we.

Changes to competition listings

Members may have noticed that we are not updating competitions as often as usual. Don't worry, we're not pulling back on our objective of bringing you lots of quality competitions.

Our average member visits us once a week, so aside from the odd new feature, the bulk of our competitions will be added on Tuesday (which is also our new Newsletter day).

Doing things this way means we have more time to concentrate on competition selection, which we know is important to our members.

Next week, we're also launching a new "bonanza" competition with lots of prizes, and even daily entry!

New changes at Competitions Guide

This week we have added facilities for our members to be able to change email address and password automatically.

To ensure your address is correct, if changing your email address you will need to click and confirm in your nominated email address.

Your old email address will be active until your confirm your new one.

 

Log-in changes now active

It's taken a long time, but we've finally fixed the problem of members wanting to enter a competition and being re-directed to the homepage after logging in.

If you now choose to not stay logged in and click on a competition you will be taken to a launch page and then enter from there. This means that if you find a competition you like on page 4, you won't need to go searching for it again!

 

Competitions Guide features in That's Life Magazine

Thanks to member Mandy Graham who named our site the "Website We Love" in this week's That's Life Magazine. It's the second time in two years we've been given that honour, and there are a lot of websites to choose from.

Win a $500 Coles Myer Card or signed books

Thanks to all members who took part in this competition - we received a large number of new members as a result.

The winner of the major prize is Sue Lynch of QLD. This wasn't an easy competition to win. Sue sent only one email, however her approach to the recommendation was appreciated and very well thought out.

We have discontinued this page, not because it wasn't visited (in fact it was highly visited), it was an unfortunate lack of stories. Instead, we have replaced with a feedback page which directly answers competitions questions that come to us.

 

Xmas New Year & Competitions

To all members, Competitions Guide is not shutting down for the holiday period, however we won't be adding competitions on Xmas Day, Boxing Day or New Years Day. Other than that, it's business as usual!

 

Competitions - The Book Orders

We incorrectly labeled this competition as free to enter. A bottle of wine must be purchased to enter. This has now been corrected, sorry for the error.

 

Competitions Guide $500 Coles Myer Gift Card comp update

We have had a number of requests from members wanting an alternative to sending emails to their friends, therefore have expanded the competition to allow for posts to FaceBook and other online forums.

Problems with Optusnet

We have received a number of complaints from Optusnet customers (of which we are one) who are receiving 3 newsletters at once.

Our latest information is that Optusnet has difficulty receiving large numbers of emails at once. To get around this we are now sending newsletters in smaller "packets", 15 minutes apart.

It seems to have worked at our end, but please let us know if this is still continuing.
