Worst job in Australia

On the Discovery Channel they have a show called "Dirty Jobs" (I don't watch it as it seems boring), and there must be so many to choose from. But for me, I reckon the guy who plays Santa outside the Christmas Cave and similar venues has about the worst that you can get.

Think about it, Australia was never truly set up for European style Christmases. The more qualified Santa's get to sit in relative luxury on the floor of Myer or DJ's, but not our Christmas Cavers.

They get to stand outside from October to December 24, next to the traffic, in the heat, wobbling a board reminding us of the fantastic savings we could be having if only they had any popular stock left. Also, I notice that most of the Santa's in question usually tend to be underweight and even less motivated.

I don't like going to temporary Christmas set-ups but sometimes I need to. I happen to like single colour rope lights that you can hang in trees and off balconies, and the $10-for-200 seems to be a good investment.

But all the other stuff I have to wade through to get to the lights section is a wonder. After all, what nativity scene isn't complete without the addition of an $800 four-set of electrically powered, singing, dancing, playing Christmas Gorillas?

I don't hold street-side Santas responsible for the lights I wanted being out of stock this year. They have enough to deal with .....
