Why hide ..... you'll be found

CompetitionsGuide.com.au Stories

I've noticed in the past few weeks something new. Members contacting us to let us know that a competition posted as free-to-enter has actually been wrongly noted and should be shop-to-enter. Simple mistake? Yes, but it's the fact that this has been missed more than once annoys me.

Firstly, how we select competitions is a fairly intensive process. We receive comp tips from members, through search engines, from advertising agency execs pretending to be members etc. And this is all to narrow down from thousands to 25 a week.

We do preference free-to-enter competitions unless the shop-to-enter is first rate. Reason being it's a preference of our members, even though the shop-to-enter comps pose a better odds proposition.

But, there are some promoters who like to hide the fact that you need to buy something to win. Why? The best reason I can figure out is to get an entrant totally involved in the process and then spring the purchase on them at the last second.

It makes no sense. Our members are interested in shop-to-enter comps but like to know before the event not during it. We've been reviewing competitions for a long time, and if we have trouble finding a purchase request you can take it from us that it's hidden.

We're talking about some big ticket retailers, too. The result. Simple. Try to hide something and the competition is generally removed.

There's plenty else to choose from, why waste time?
