Lessons from Masterchef

I didn't like the Aussie version of Masterchef at first, too much of a change from the original format. However over the weeks I've become a huge fan, and manage to sustain 5 out of the 6 nights each week to the point that I record it if I'm not home.

What really gets me is the amount of persistence that some of the contestants display, even when their backs are up against the wall they keep fighting.

At Shoppers Bonus I keep a close eye on reasons members give if they want to unsubscribe and cancel their membership. More often than not the comments are along the lines of "haven't won anything yet so why bother".

In some cases I understand this, as people new to competitions get swept up in the sheer volume available, and can be just as easily disappointed when the wins don't come sweeping in.

But on the same hand, it's those that hang in there for a bit longer that tend to jag a win, and all of a sudden the feelings change. My advice to those that are in search of their first win, is to have a go at those that offer a large number of small prizes. Get some easier wins or two under your belt, as this will encourage you to stick with it over time.

Persistence is so important, and if you don't believe me, the majority of comments at the top of our homepages are from first time winners. In fact we've only just sent out winning news to winners of our Creatively Belle competition. I wonder how many of these may have not had a win yet?
