So, how do you rate?

Members would have noticed that this week we've introduced three competitions that all require entrants to rate various things. One of the comps is for Shoppers Bonus (as you would know by now). We haven't run a ratings comp before, but the great thing is that we're able to now look at some of the responses and track how the entries are going, and maybe pass on some advice?

How do I rate what I've seen so far? Not bad, actually, but some of your answers do need thinking about. Firstly, don't be misled into thinking that saying all good things will win you a prize. Flattery is nice, and we often take the opportunity to put glowing testimonials onto our homepages. But, we're looking for honest answers to pass onto promoters as advice, so tread carefully here. If you don't like something, say so, and if you do this constructively you're in with a better chance of winning simply because you're passing on valuable insights.

The second piece of advice is not to treat these competitions as your average WOL (words or less). Those who have read my book know my thoughts on rhyming ..... but there's even less call for it in a ratings competition. It just doesn't make sense.

Another tip is to not make your comment too short. This isn't a draw, so answers such as 'I like it' aren't going to score you too many points. Even if you do just like it, try to tell us why. Something about the prize, or the product, or ease of entry. This is all good stuff, and we can work with it.

On the whole, I'm seeing some really good responses, and have learned more about what you like and don't like than any other comp we've run at Shoppers Bonus. In the end, this information gets passed onto promoters when they ask for advice, and that's a good thing for all of us.

Keep it coming .......
