Be naked (kind of)

I've sorted out something that has been bugging me for the past two years. Since leaving the base of the blue mountains for the inner city I've opted for wireless broadband for the in between period of renting. Results have been so-so, but over time I think I've become accustomed to dumbing down my internet speed.

Two months ago we moved into our new home, which was built in 1887. 122 years ago, internet provision wasn't high on their list of priorities, and these guys really new how to build solid houses. My wireless service also knows how to bounce off solid walls, and watching my diminishing modem bars had become more than frustrating.

But one thing that I haven't liked about cable broadband is that usually you're required to have a landline phone as well. I don't want a landline phone, and I don't think many people these days do.

I may be telling you something you already know, but a few of the internet service providers are offering 'naked' options, in which you can have broadband installed without the need for a landline phone. I'm not going to tell you who I went with, as these pages aren't for commercial purposes (except for the Google ads you can see on the right :)

What I can tell you is it's the best thing I've bought in years. If you're struggling, consider getting back onto the wires. You'll wonder how you did without it!
