Ben and Jerrys free plug

PR is a funny thing, and as you'd probably know it's all about getting people to write about you or your product. To get people to write about you, it's normally a good idea to have something that's actually interesting to say. Having an online guide means that I get pitched at all the time to include competitions in our list, but rather than sometimes ask outright, I get emails with subjects such as "hey, check this out"

And then proceeds to tell me that they've just stumbled onto this great competition that we really should take a look at and include at CompetitionsGuide.com.au. Strange thing is that the senders are normally too lazy to put their anonymous request on a fake email address, so the person "stumbling" onto the competition just happens to be from the agency that just happened to create it.

So, as I said it's all about free plugs.

Yesterday, out of the blue, 10 litres of ice cream turns up from Ben & Jerrys. I've never actually seen ice cream in a cardboard box, in fact I thought it was going to be individual wrapped or cups or something, but not a gigantic block of the stuff. Triple choc caramel.

Ben & Jerrys didn't ask for a plug, nor did they come up with an excuse to be given one. And, in a smart way for a few dollars they've now got what I presume was their original intention. Ben & Jerrys, here's your link ..... Click here, and for feedback, your ice cream was fantastic.

Now, next time, speak to our advertising department :)

Yours Comp-letely,
